HONG KONG, February 12, 2001: - Chow
Yun-Fat's recently released stamp series and first day covers
were an instant sell-out at this year's Stamp Expo. Demand
has been so high, that the stamp's distributor, emaimai, has
requested an additional 5,000 sets exclusively for the Hong
Kong market.
The South American country of Guyana had
commissioned the Chow stamp series to honour the world famous
Asian star. The Guyanan government agreed to the special arrangement
in an effort to meet customer demand in Hong Kong.
The stamps, which were released February
2 during a highly-publicised unveiling and signing event at
which the star attended, were the leading selling stamp at
this year's International Stamp Expo in which Chow was also
Ambassador.
Customers wishing to purchase the new series,
which highlight the star's impressive career to date, can
make a purchase from www.emaimai.com
or through the company's offline distribution partner, Circle
K Convenience Stores.
emaimai Chairman Mr. M. Moshe Malamud expressed
delight at the success of the Chow stamp series.
"emaimai is pleased to have been able to
secure these additional stamps and make them available to
the Hong Kong people and we're thrilled they've been so well
received. The stamps were enormously popular with visitors
to the recent stamp expo and the ensuing publicity resulted
in demands that exceeded expectations," said Mr. Malamud.
The stamps, sold in sheets of 6 stamps each,
were designed by world-renowned stamp designer Joel Itzkowitz.
They depict Chow in various roles he has played throughout
his illustrious career.
